Right Belief and Behavior
Sunday Sermon

- Fr. Dcn.Tikhon Cobb -

Today on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the 4th Ecumenical Council the Gospel reading comes to us from Matthew 5:14-19. The Church recognizes seven Ecumenical councils, guided by the Holy Spirit, that preserved the authentic Faith of the Apostles. In the Gospel reading, Christ tells His disciples, that they are the light of the world and their light should not be hidden but set on a hill for all to see. Christ shared His Light with His disciples and they in turn passed this Light on to other generations. Orthodox Christians have received this Light and should let our actions follow our Faith and love everyone for the Glory of God. The unification of right belief and right behavior is what it means to be Orthodox and give God the right Glory.
