Today, on the 3rd Sunday of Matthew, the Gospel comes to us from Matthew 6:22-33. Therein Jesus tells us we should not be anxious about basic life necessities like eating, drinking, and clothing because God knows our needs. Father Micah shares a timely message of hope that we can live a life free from anxiety, despair, and loss in this world. He suggests that the root of worry is a misaligned hierarchy where the things we put first cause our lives to be shaken. Christ tells us in the Gospel to seek His Kingdom and righteousness first by putting our trust and care in His hands. This Kingdom of God is a mystery and unknown without definition in scripture. This Kingdom is somehow present but hidden and yet to come. Orthodox Christians seek God's Kingdom by orienting our lives with that of the Church, where we experience a life of communion and love.
