From the Ladies Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Dear Parishioners,
Sixty years ago, a group of women from Holy Trinity Holy Cross Philoptochos Society created a Greek Cookbook to preserve traditional Hellenic recipes while also raising money for their organization. “The Greeks Have a Recipe for it” contains a myriad of family recipes handed down through generations, and it continues to be a best seller at our annual Greek Food Festival each year. The Ladies Philoptochos Society is very proud of this first cookbook, and we will continue to print and sell copies of this classic collection.
Inspired by the success of “The Greeks Have a Recipe for It,” the Ladies Philoptochos Society is now planning to collect recipes from our parishioners and publish an updated second cookbook with an array of Mediterranean recipes — including traditional Greek recipes and additional vegetarian and vegan recipes for fasting periods.
We are currently gathering recipes from Philoptochos members and parishioners for the new cookbook.
To submit a recipe, follow this link to fill out the form.
By submitting, you agree to give Philoptochos permission to print the recipe for the cookbook if the recipe is selected by the cookbook committee.
We encourage you to submit any recipes that fall into the following categories:
Orthodox traditions remain an important part of modern life, and our goal with this updated cookbook is to help keep those traditions alive for our children, grandchildren, and future generations.
With love from your Philoptochos Sisters in Christ,
The Second Cookbook Committee (Maria Andros, Chum Atkins, Sonthe Burge [Co-chair] , Angie Carter Houston [Co-chair], Maria Derzis, Stephanie Dikis, Nancy Drakos, Hala Fawal, Sue Graphos, Fanoula Gulas, Alexis Pappas, Cherie Sardelis, Suzane Schoel, Kristine Wagner, and Rhonda Yearout)
