Anastasi Support Group
Anastasi is a group that meets at Holy Trinity - Holy Cross Cathedral to support one another in our struggles with Addiction and the Passions. Anastasi is the Greek word for Resurrection. We have chosen this name because anyone who has struggled with addiction or has a family member or friend who has had this struggle knows that addiction can be a living hell, a slow dying… We are not without hope! Our Christ died that we might live and entered Hades breaking the chains of death and bringing to those who were captives the gift of freedom. We have also Chosen this name because St. Anastasia the Deliverer from Potions is our Patron Saint.
Who is ANASTASI for?
Anastasi is not only for people addicted to drugs and Alcohol, it is for those who might not have had this struggle themselves but who have seen and suffered with children, parents, spouses, or friends who have had this struggle. Central to this group is the understanding that we ALL have passions, we all have struggles, and that whether our addiction is to alcohol, food, pornography, gossip, or entertainment we have hope and strength when we come together with one another, the saints, the Mother of God, and above all, Christ! Who is ANASTASI for? Everyone!
What do you do?
We begin with prayer followed by a short presentation by a member of the group and a discussion related to the presentation. We concluded with a short exploration of our Faith through a specific reading, prayer, life of a Saint, or theme
